We left the coastal rain forest and headed east to Whistler. Almost immediately, we came to Squamish, which looks Yosemite’s sister. Steep granite monoliths. waterfalls, rivers, rock climbers, their dogs and their Subarus. A gondola ride took us to sweeping views of the coastal range.
Whistler is modern, and is nice in a master-planned kind of way. Bike trails (and bikes of all kinds) are everywhere. The mural of Seurat’s “A Sunday Afternoon ……” was on a rec center in Sechelt. The photo (tweaked) of the lake reminded me of that painting.
Driving east from Whistler the number of tourists dropped dramatically, to our liking. This is the BC is love. Mostly empty roads through small towns with mountains, rivers and lakes. Canada has tried to correct their historical mistakes with the indigenous people. City names are in english and Salish. and there are many public artworks honoring them. In the photo of a man and kid at the raging river, they are dipnetting for salmon, something only indigenous people are allowed to do.
What a great Summer adventure! Love all of it😀
It all looks amazing ! Like the Falls photo especially. Keep on truckin.
Beautiful pics of amazing places! I like your “Seurat” better. 😊
