This city’s hallmark is the glass fisherman’s floats - they get them from Japan because of the currents, and they’ve made an center for all things glass - and now they offer this tourist experience! I was so excited to do this! Perhaps the only souvenirs we brought home from our travels 20 years ago were floats from here, and we were big fans of “Blown Away,” so this was a must-do for me. Of course, the guide facilitates every move, and I saw some folks backing away, but my guide fed my ego by telling me he rarely lets clients handle the glass as much as I did- that I had a feel for it 🥰 so that made me very happy. We won’t know exactly what it looks like until it comes out of the kiln tomorrow - and then they’re shipping it to our home, so I won’t know til we get home what it really looks like!!!
